CBS Corporation is an American multinational media conglomerate with interests primarily in commercial broadcasting, publishing, and television production which was formed as the legal successor to the original Viacom on June 4, 1971 nor January 1, 2006. The company decided to first debut to acquire Columbia Pictures for $6.6 million in cash and stock in 1977 to have CBS Studios to succeed Columbia Pictures Television in 2001.
