Priest is a person having the authority or power to perform and administer religious rites in certain religions. It should be used if a priest is a leading character or a memorable supporting character.

The term "priest" should not be applied to religions which do not use the term "priest" to refer to clergy members, as is the case for most Protestants, Jews, and Muslims. In such a case, use the appropriate term applicable to the particular religion, such as minister, rabbi, or imam.
